โรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์ สภากาชาดไทย เริ่มต้นเมื่อพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ทรงรับสภาอุณาโลมแดง ซึ่งต่อมาคือ สภากาชาดสยามและสภากาชาดไทย ตามลำดับ ไว้ในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ ตั้งแต่แรกก่อตั้งเมื่อพุทธศักราช ๒๔๓๖ต่อมาในรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระมงกุฎเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ทรงรวบรวมพระราชทรัพย์จากบรรดา พระราชโอรส พระราชธิดาในพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว สมทบกับทุนของสภากาชาด เพื่อก่อตั้งโรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์ ขึ้นในปี พ.ศ.๒๓๔๗ โดยพระราชทานให้เป็นโรงพยาบาลหลักของสภากาชาดไทย ด้วยทรงเห็นความสำคัญของการรักษาพยาบาล / ด้วยพระราชหฤทัยที่มีพระราชประสงค์ให้เกิดประโยชน์สูงสุดแก่อาณาประชาราษฎร์ และเผยแพร่เกียรติคุณของประเทศชาติให้นานาประเทศได้รับทราบ ว่าไทยมีความเจริญก้าวหน้าด้านการแพทย์ มีโรงพยาบาลที่ทันสมัย ทัดเทียมนานาอารยประเทศ พระองค์พระราชทานนามโรงพยาบาลตามพระปรมาภิไธยของสมเด็จพระบรมชนกนาถ เพื่อเฉลิมพระเกียรติถวายเป็นพระราชกุศลว่า “โรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์” ระบบการดูแลผู้ป่วยโรคหลอดเลือดสมองแบบครบวงจรด้วยโทรเวชกรรม(Telemedicine)Cognitive Fitness Center โรคสมองเสื่อมฟิตเนสฝึกสมองผู้สูงอายุบริการผ่าตัดปลูกถ่ายอวัยวะบริการรักษาผู้ป่วยมะเร็งเต้านมและโรคเกี่ยวกับความผิดปกติของเต้านมอย่างครบวงจรบริการรักษาผู้ป่วย โรคพาร์กินสัน และกลุ่มโรคความเคลื่อนไหวผิดปกติ
